What is the DoorDash Commerce Platform?
The DoorDash Commerce Platform is a collection of tools and products designed to help merchants drive direct store sales on their own ordering channels.
Using the same technology that has helped drive millions of DoorDash orders every day, the DoorDash Commerce Platform custom-builds solutions for your brand that help streamline operations and make it easy to grow direct sales via your own ordering channels (website, Google, social media), outside of Marketplace.
The DoorDash Commerce Platform offers Online Ordering with all of its packages. The Starter Package is included in your DoorDash Marketplace account, while the Boost and Pro Packages offer more advanced tools to build your business and your brand.
Here’s an overview of the benefits you’ll get with the Starter Package:
Custom Branding — Launch with a fully branded website that reflects your business
Customer Engagement Tools — Boost orders with features like a floating "Order Now" button
Seamless Ordering Experience — Make it easy for customers to order through intuitive menus, item-level ratings, and fast checkout with multiple payment options (including Apple Pay and PayPal)
Commission-Free Ordering — With no commission*, you only pay for payment processing (*2.9% + $0.30 per order)
What is Online Ordering?
Online Ordering is a commission-free* online ordering solution that’s powered by DoorDash’s proven technology. Online Ordering is part of the DoorDash Commerce Platform.
With Online Ordering, you can turn your website, social media, or Google Page visitors into paying customers, allowing you to build your brand and acquire new regulars directly on your own channels.
When you add this online ordering system for restaurants to your website, orders will show up on your DoorDash tablet or POS integration. Then, delivery orders will be fulfilled by Dashers and pickup orders will be collected in your store by customers.

How do I set up Online Ordering?
Log in to the Merchant Portal.
Head down to + Add Solutions and click on it.
Scroll down to “Grow Online” and there you will see Online Ordering.
Click on Add Channel.
Once Online Ordering is added, it will show up under the Channels section on the left-side panel.
After setting up your Online Ordering, you are given a custom link to your online store.
To start receiving orders, you must publish your Online Ordering link. You can then place it on your website, social media accounts, or email campaigns.
How do I add Online Ordering to my website?
To activate Online Ordering on your website, you need to add a custom link to the backend of your site:
Log into your web manager (e.g., GoDaddy, Shopify, Square Space, Weebly, Wix, WordPress).
Follow these steps for your specific web manager to create the Online Ordering menu page.
Log in to the Merchant Portal and on the left-hand side scroll to the Channels section.
Select Online Ordering and scroll down to the Online Ordering Link section. Here you can find and copy your Online Ordering link.
Add the DoorDash "Order Now" button so your customers can order on your website from anywhere. This customizable button is designed to boost visibility and drive sales to your digital channels. It will be displayed on every page of your website and will remain visible as the customer navigates through your site.
Make sure to save your changes and hit publish!
How do I receive Online Ordering orders?
You’ll receive DoorDash Online Ordering orders the same way you currently receive Marketplace orders: through your DoorDash tablet or POS.
Once a customer places an order through Storefront, it will come directly to your POS system via the DoorDash tablet. For pickup, customers can either come in to collect their order by stating "I ordered this online through your website," or a Dasher can collect it for delivery.
How do I differentiate Online Ordering orders from Marketplace orders?
Log in to the Merchant Portal.
On the left hand side, click on Orders.
Under All Channels, select which channel you want to see orders from: DoorDash (Marketplace) or Online Ordering.
How do scheduled orders work with Online Ordering?
Scheduled orders are created by customers ahead of time – for example, tomorrow at 6 pm.
Tablet Protocol: These orders will show up immediately on the tablet as soon as they are created. However, they are placed under the section 'Scheduled Orders.' Read more here.
POS Protocol: These orders will appear on your POS as an ASAP order. This means DoorDash will not send the order to your POS provider until closer to the fulfillment time (typically about 30 minutes before order fulfillment time).
How can I pause orders with Online Ordering?
You can manage your Commerce Platform business operations separately from your Marketplace business. If you need to pause your store for Marketplace orders, you can still conveniently take orders on your online ordering page and mobile app.
You can pause Marketplace orders while keeping your Online Ordering website live. However, it's not possible to pause your Online Ordering website and keep Marketplace orders live.
Can I enable staff tips with Online Ordering?
Offering staff tips can motivate your employees, provide them with an additional way to earn money, and allow customers to express their appreciation. With the Online Ordering Web and App, customers can now leave tips for your restaurant's staff when placing a pickup order.
As long as you have tips enabled on DoorDash Marketplace, they’ll also be available on Online Ordering Web and App. If staff tips are not enabled on Marketplace, reach out to your account manager via email or through the Merchant Portal Help Center.
How do I optimize my Online Ordering page?
A well-designed Online Ordering page is the difference between infrequent visitors and loyal, repeat customers. You’ll want to customize your site to align with your brand and ensure a smooth experience for your customers.
Express your brand
With the Starter package, you can add your logo and choose from 12 preset theme colors to match your brand.
However, if you’re looking for more advanced customizations, you can upgrade to the DoorDash Commerce Platform Boost or Pro packages.
Upload high-quality photos
Customers are more likely to order when you use photos. The same photos that appear on DoorDash Marketplace (your listing on our app/website) will appear on your Online Ordering Menu.
You can directly upload your own pics using the Menu Editor in the Merchant Portal.
If you have multiple store locations, select the location you’d like to update.
On the left hand side, navigate to the Menu Manager tab.
From here, you can edit each item on your menu.
Add detailed descriptions to menu items
Customers like to place orders quickly within minutes of visiting your site — the easier you make it for them, the more likely they’ll place an order.
