Menu item labels like "vegan," "gluten-free," or "spicy" help describe key attributes of your dishes, enabling DoorDash to surface your menu items to customers searching for food that meets their dietary needs or preferences.
For instance, if you tag a dish as "vegetarian" using a menu item label, it can be included in our store page chip-filtering feature, allowing vegetarian customers to easily find food that fits their dietary needs.

Menu item labels assigned by DoorDash
DoorDash uses a combination of machine learning models and internal human review to generate menu item labels that reflect common dietary needs and preferences.
You can review and edit menu item labels assigned by DoorDash using the food labels section of the Menu Manager.
Highly sensitive menu item labels
Some menu item labels, especially those related to dietary restrictions or allergens like 'gluten-free' or 'vegan,' are considered highly sensitive. To ensure accuracy and safety, you will need to approve or reject highly sensitive menu item labels before they can be used to help customers discover relevant items.
You can approve or reject highly sensitive menu item labels using the food labels section of the Menu Manager.

How merchants using POS or middleware integrations can leverage menu item labels
If you use a POS or middleware integration, you can use the food labels section of the Menu Manager to manage your menu item labels. Please note that any changes you make via food labels will be applied at the menu level. This means that if you make a change via food labels to an item that appears on three menus, the update will be reflected across all three menus.
